Re: Joe Hart
Could be the making of him as GK if he reacts the right way.

Healthy competition should always be welcome.

If not, then at least he's picking up £60kpw to sit on the bench, eh?

Thing is, Hart has not been challenged at either club or country level.

He got complacent and his game suffered.

That's why Guardiola gets paid the biggest bucks in the world, for making the right decision, and from where I'm standing he's made the right choice here

Re: Joe Hart
I think it's all down to the fact that he isn't a sweeper keeper and that's what Guardiola wants although I don't think City's back up is either so that's what I find a bit strange. Mind you I suspect Pep knows Hart won't be happy as back up where Caballero probably is.

To be fair to Hart he doesn't exactly play behind great defences. City's is their weakness and of course England's is error prone and all keeper make mistakes. I thought Neuer was unbeatable a few years back but he has made some high profile errors, they all do. David Seaman was probably one of the greatest keepers of all time and yet he is still remembered for his cock ups.

Did Guardiola call Hart to discuss this though?

Pep may be looking at it from the angle that in this day and age of pro football a keeper should be a footballer. Should be able to play sweeper and sit high up and be confident to read through balls and deal with them.

So for him it may be a case of that's what he expects and if Hart isn't up to it that's his problem.

But, if as you say, Hart has failed to work on this part of his game knowing that Pep is coming in then that is down to him?

Re: Joe Hart
Guardiola said he wants a keeper who can play with his feet and am sure he said it might take Hart up to 6 months to develop that side of his game.
Guardiola was announced as City manager about 6 months ago wasn't he?
What has Hart done to prepare for the new manager? Did he even call Guardiola when he was announced as manager to discuss this?

He is pretty good. Without doubt. I think Hart's problem is one that affects many English players and that's the feeling of 'I've made it'.

Let's be honest, Hart was fantastic as a young keeper. Got his mega contract at Citeh and was made England number 1. He was never threatened at Citeh, despite becoming a bit of a liability in last few seasons.

And he was never pushed for his place within the England set up. I think Forster and Butland are tremendous keepers, but I think it was obviously clear they were never going to get the nod unless Hart physically couldn't play.

This has meant that Hart would have had to push himself and be make sure he was the best even without having to look over his shoulder. And I think he has become complacent.

He's got his shampoo's ad's, other endorsements and sponsorships, mega money from Citeh, his bank account is stuffed to the max. Won league with Citeh. Established. So what has he got that's driving him?

He wakes up in the morning to go to training knowing that even if he puts in 50% he's playing at the weekend. Must get to a point where a human simply cannot stop the complacency from setting in.

But that's what set the world class players apart from the very good players.

If you believe the gutter press today then that would explain why our England Super Stars fail at every tournament

Hart: I would rather go out on loan than fight for my place in the Man City side!!

Re: Joe Hart
Guardiola's apparent dislike of Hart as a keeper has far more to do with the type of keeper Hart is than how good Hart is at being the kind of keeper he is.

He's never going to be a sweeper keeper, but, if you want a more traditional keeper, he's pretty good.

He's addicted to painkillers. Nothing illegal but loses his marbles when they try to wean him off, that's when he has inconsistent spells and probably also why he sometimes appears to be a lunatic.
